perhaps happiness
would come if i gave in
abandoned all ambition
succumbed to ruralburbia
settled for a distillery
job in clermont kentucky
instead of pursuing
loftier goals.
if i had just given up
my ardor of pushing harder
stopped listening to people
who’d traveled farther
perhaps i’d feel fulfillment
with a sense of content
sometimes ambition can
overrule us to the end

With the right mix of ambition and contentment there can be great reward… problem is… very few humans have the slightest clue on how to achieve this… it’s either you sit right where you are or run the race that never ends… and it is this very race that “overrules us to the end”
Nice one
Bomi, you hit the nail right on the head! That is exactly what I was going for. As humans, we either sit or run ourselves ragged. It’s a delicate balance, and that’s really what’s at the heart of this.
You mean bourbon distillery isn’t at the top of your list?
For many years it was. Instead, I chose to support my hometown’s industry through mass consumption.
yes, a rat race that can squeeze us dry and choked. a fine tight rope to thread on.
